Expect pickup early in the morning and transfer by air-conditioned coach to Luxor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where your guide meets you. First, cross the Nile to the West Bank and the famous Valley of the Kings, with 63 royal tombs dating back almost 4,000 years: The elaborate art that decorates their walls gives an insight into how Egypt’s rulers lived.
Next, visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari, a tribute to Egypt’s gender-bending female pharaoh, and the giant statues known as the Colossi of Memnon.
Cross back to the East Bank and relax with a traditional local lunch before you explore the vast Temple of Karnak. Finish with a visit to an alabaster factory before your coach drops you back at your hotel.

Colossi of Memnon, Luxor, Egypt The Colossi of Memnon (Arabic: el-Colossat or es-Salamat) are two massive stone statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, who reigned in Egypt during the Dynasty XVIII. For the past 3,400 years (since 1350 BC), they have stood in the Theban Necropolis, located west of the River Nile from the modern city of Luxor.

Karnak Open Air Museum, Luxor, Egypt Ancient architecture goes monumental at this landmark in Luxor, which houses magnificent statues, columns, and the largest place of worship ever constructed—just a stone’s throw from downtown traffic. Construction of Karnak Temple spanned more than 1,000 years, and it shows in the diverse art and architecture of this Egyptian site.

Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari, Luxor, Egypt The vast Temple of Hatshepsut (at Deir el-Bahari) rivals the Pyramids as one of the great funerary monuments of the ancient world. Built into the towering cliff face which shelter the Valley of the Kings on the other side, it rises on three enormous terraces connected by ramps, each level marked with a colonnade of stark, largely unadorned square pillars. Its namesake was one of the few female pharaohs of ancient Egypt, who not unfairly called her monument “Splendor of Splendors”. However, much of the construction dated from earlier rulers, starting with Mentuhotep II in 2050 BC. Numerous sphinxes and other statues have since disappeared, making the whole structure appear even more monolithic. The cool stone interior provides welcome relief from the pitiless heat of this region, and features well-preserved wall reliefs and hieroglyphics, some in brilliant colors.
60 minutes
Valley of the Kings, Luxor, Egypt Valley of the Kings is a treasure trove of archaeological wonders, containing dozens of tombs filled with art and hieroglyphics. See King Tutankhamun’s tomb—the most famous sight in the valley—then tour the temples of the sons of Ramses II and of Amenhotep III and others to marvel at the centuries’ old art and artifacts.

Det går inte att förklara på några rader, detta är det mest fantastiska man kan uppleva. Betänk att det är 4000 år sedan detta byggdes. Har återkommit 5-6 gånger till Luxor för att se detta. Rekommenderas att ni läser på lite innan.
