    The permanent collection is divided into two separate regions, one chronological the other thematic. The chronological areas will be the following: Archaic, Pharaonic, Greco-Roman, Coptic, Medieval, Islamic, modern and contemporary. The thematic areas will be the following: Dawn of Civilization, The Nile, Writing, State and Society, Material Culture, Beliefs and Thinking and the Gallery of Royal Mummies. UNESCO provided technical help to the museum. The collections was taken from other Egyptian museums such as the Egyptian Museum, the Coptic Museum, the Museum of Islamic Art, the Manial Palace and Museum in Cairo, and the Royal Jewelry Museum in Alexandria. On 3 April 2021, the museum was officially opened, right before the moving of 22 mummies, including 18 kings and four queens, from the Egyptian Museum in an event termed the Pharaohs' Golden Parade.

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is fantastic. It gives a great overview of Egypt’s history, from ancient times to the modern era. The Royal Mummies Hall is unforgettable—you feel the history up close. With a private tour, I could spend time wherever I wanted and really take in each exhibit. Hoda was knowledgeable and empathetic, explaining everything clearly while letting me enjoy the museum at my own pace. She highlighted interesting details I would have missed on my own. The museum is modern and easy to navigate, and with Hoda guiding me, the whole visit felt relaxed and really enjoyable. It’s a must for anyone who wants a deeper look at Egypt’s past.

Hoda was our guide, she was very informative and gave us loads of information about the exhibits of this museum. The Royal Mummies part was surreal. This tour is great, driver and guide picked us up and dropped us back to our hotel - thank you
