It was constructed in honour of Emperor Diocletian at the end of the 4th century. Originally from the temple of the Serapis, it was once a magnificent structure rivalling the Soma and the Caesarean. Then drive to visit the Catacombs which are the largest Roman Cemetery consisting of three levels cut in the rock. Lunch at local restaurant in Alexandria, then proceed to see the Qaitbay Citadel which was built on the site of the ancient pharaohs (lighthouse) of Alexandria then, to Bibliotheca Alexandria. Finally you will be transferred back to your hotel in Cairo.

Our day was fantastic. A long drive, mainly due to the heavy traffic in both Cairo and Alexandria. Our guide Abdul is very knowledgeable and friendly and engaging. Nothing is too much trouble for him. He guided us through the catacombs, organised with a local guide to see the library and then showed us the citadel before a seafood lunch in a traditional restaurant. In between I asked about Pompeis Pillar and although not part of the tour he was able to explain its significance and organise a drive past. Abdul was also very considerate to our needs through the entire trip. For us it was definitely the best booking we could make.

It was Extremely nice tour with Adeel Hakeem. He knows the history of Egypt. He is sincere and extremely well mannered. I wish him all the best. I will definitely go with him again when I visit Egypt.
