Highly recommend this if you are staying in El Gouna and want to see everything in Luxor. Nice bus driven by Ahmed and Mustafa. Said was an excellent guide and answered all our questions!

This was an excellent trip overall with some caveats. We were picked on time by our driver Ahmed. His van is the most luxurious transport you can ask for and we have it only for ourselves. The seats are comfy, there are extra cushions, rugs on the floor, free WiFi throughout the day and all sorts of cold drinks and snacks. Flat screen with entertainment and even some nice decor including live plants. Ahmed is a great host and he will make you feel welcomed and safe. He will stop for a quick toilet/smoke break if you ask him. His driving skills are second to none and he prides himself to be the first tour on site from Hurghada which I'm sure of he achieves every time. He drives fast, very fast. But please don't be alarmed, he is the best driver and we enjoyed his driving skills. And as I mentioned we were the first ones in Karnak temple from Hurghada which means little to no crowds.
In Karnak we met Said, our guide for a day. He is very knowledgeable and you can ask him questions about Egypt rich history which he will gladly answer. During the Karnak tour he wanted to sell us some necklaces that can be personalised with your name, but we declined. From memory they were like 30 dollars and more depending on the material. After the tour you will have 30 minutes to explore the site for yourself or just to take pictures. You will be asked if you are interested in the optional boat ride on the Nile as this have to be booked in advance. We agreed to it even though it's quite expensive. Normally you would pay 10 EUR per person, but because it's private, we paid 50 EUR in total for both of us.
I believe next stop would be a papyrus workshop, but we already been to one in Hurghada so we skipped this one. We went to an Egyptian cotton store instead, as my girlfriend was after some dress for herself. She bought one and she was very happy with the quality and the price. She paid around 35 dollars. This was an optional activity purely on her whim and Said recommended the store we went to.
Next stop was a free buffet lunch next to the Nile river and the restaurant was decent enough. There was a choice of mains, salads and desserts and we were happy with the quality of the food. Drinks are to be paid extra but they were cheap. For a cappuccino, espresso and juice we paid 190 LE. There are free toilets in the restaurant and they are spotless, so if you need to use one, do it here.
After the lunch we hopped to the boat from the pier next to the restaurant and started our 45 minute sailing on the Nile river. We saw Luxor temple and took a nice pictures from top of the boat. We relaxed as the coffee/tea was served and enjoyed Said history talk. It was a nice experience, but not worth 50 EUR.
Ahmed was waiting for us on the other side of the river and took us to the Colossi of Memnon for a quick photoshoot and Valley of Kings after.
There you will have 3 tombs to explore and you can choose which ones. Tutankhamen tomb is for an extra charge, but both Ahmed and Said warned us not to go there as there is nothing to see inside. We let Said pick the tombs and we were not disappointed. All 3 of them were beautifully decorated. Be aware of local "helpers" inside of them offering to take pictures of you or explaining the carvings as they do it for tips/baksisch. Just ignore them politely and they let you be. Said will tell you all about the tombs beforehand anyway.
After the Valley of Kings you will be driven to local alabaster workshop/overpriced tourist trap shop. I don't know how optional this experience is, but do avoid it if you can. There are pushy salesmen inside and we were guilt tripped to buy some statues from the initial price of 3500 LE for 1000 LE after one of them chased us outside. You can buy the same ones in Hurghada for 500 LE or less. Of course they will try to justify the high prices with the "quality of workmanship and material used" speech. Avoid if you can.
Last stop was a Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut. It is a beautiful temple with some nice statues, columns and carvings and Said explained the whole history to us. Beware of the "helpers" again as they will demand tips by just talking to you. It was a nice ending to an awesome tour.
We dropped off Said shortly after and started heading to Hurghada where we arrived shortly before 6:30 pm as promised by Ahmed.
Apart from the beautiful sites he was the highlight of our tour. You will struggle to find a more kind hearted and quirky (in a good way) guy and we enjoyed his company and driving very much. If it wasn't for him, we would rate this tour a star lower.
