I had taken a train to Alexandria before. While the train is fine, the crazy chaos of Ramses train is over-stimulating and overwhelming for me now. I asked my travel agent if there were other alternatives. I was massively jet lagged and overslept missing my noon pickup. I checked into my hotel around 3am. The hotel failed on their 11am wake up call. The company was super great about communicating with me on WhatsApp when I woke up to see the message. Fortunately my driver was also late. Although he didn't speak much English and my Arabic is horrible, he picked how I was doing. He stopped in the middle of of a busy street so could take a picture of the Nile. He stopped and picked a cold bottle of water for me. About half way there I realized I hadn't eaten anything since my flight the night before. Without me saying anything, at the same time he pulls over to a busy rest stop and said "toilets ten minutes". I think I was the only American there, and somehow was able to get a cheese sandwich to go. He dropped me off next the hotel. I'm so glad my travel agent picked this alternative.
