Egyptian pyramids
Six months ago, I had the pleasure of visiting one of the seven wonders of the Ancient World, The Great Pyramids of Giza. I really wouldn't believe my eyes while I was standing in front of those gigantic pyramids. Like the guide said, they are some of the most magnificent man-made structures in history. And definitely, I couldn’t agree more. Not only I was impressed by the incredible and tremendous structure, but also, I was amazed by the mysterious history of them. Don´t you think you would be impress? The way that the guide talked and shared all her knowledge with us was really fascinating and fetching. She clearly caught the attention of all of us.
I remember just one fun fact that really shocked me. She told us that the pyramid's smooth, angled sides symbolized the rays of the sun. And also, that they were designed to help the king's soul ascend to heaven and join the gods, particularly the sun god Ra.
When I came back to the hotel, I had to looked it up on google, because I couldn't remember how was made The Great Pyramid. It´s core is made of yellowish limestone blocks. The outer casing (that now is almost completely gone) and the inner passages are of finer light-coloured limestone, and the interior burial chamber is built of huge blocks of granite. Unfortunately, I couldn't get in because it was getting dark and I didn't have enough time.
One last thing was the fact that I really had to struggle with the high temperature. Luckily, Giza is a city on the plateau of the Nile River that is very close to Cairo.
It was one of the best experiences of my whole life. So, please, if you have the opportunity to go, enjoy it the best you can.
