St. Catherine's Monastery lies on the Sinai Peninsula, at the mouth of a gorge at the foot of Mount Sinai in St. Catherine's City. The monastery is Orthodox and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This monastery is one of the oldest working Christian monasteries in the world. The monastery was built by order of Emperor Justinian I, enclosing the Chapel of the Burning Bush ordered to be built by St. Helen, the mother of Constantine I, at the site where Moses is supposed to have seen the burning bush; the living bush on the grounds is purportedly the original. It is also referred to as "St. Helen's Chapel". The site is sacred to Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

You will be picked up from your hotel at approximately 7.00am (exact details will be confirmed locally) by an A/C van, then head to St. Catherine City on the 230 Kilometers drive of two and half hours. Inside the monastery you will see the Burning Bush, Moses well (where Moses met his wife) & the Transfiguration Church. Then you will take free time if you would like to climb up one of the surrounding mountains to take a panoramic view for the whole monastery.

    Then you will drive back to Dahab City (Dahab is one of the beautiful cities in South Sinai, it is far from Sharm about 100 km) to take your lunch at a sea front restaurant and you will have the chance to do some shopping as Dahab is the biggest shopping area in South Sinai, where you will get the chance to purchase different kinds of souvenirs. Finally you will drive back to Sharm el-Sheikh.

Nous avons passé une très belle journée avec Nabil, qui s’exprime dans un très bon anglais. Il sait une multitude de choses sur la région de Sharm, son histoire, ses peuples et leurs coutumes. Il connaît très bien le monastère de Sainte Catherine et nous avons eu le sentiment d’avoir eu une visite privilégiée. Le trajet a été sécurisant, avec une conduite tout en douceur et en assurance de Salah. Nous recommandons chaleureusement cette expérience!

Burning Bush was really a memorable part. Guide Nabeel is amazing with full of knowledge and good conduct. He was very friendly and became a part of family. He showed us each and every thing in the monastery. In fact after reading the reviews about Nabeel I booked this trip through viator. Lunch at Dhahb city was delicious and location of restaurant was excellent. I must recommend to others to book St. Catherine Monastery tour through Viator and especially with Guide Nabeel.

Mohammad Nabil provided a wealth of knowledge of Sharm el sheik and St Catherine’s Monastery. His service was professional and smooth- our best experience yet of a tour guide during our stay in Egypt. We had one participant who was unable to walk much, and Mohammad accommodated for them so they too could enjoy the tour. He also shares deep love for his country and city of Sharm it was refreshing to speak with him, and we enjoyed his company that we were saddened when the day ended. We look forward to returning to Sharm to spend more time with Mohammad exploring the area. Thank you Mohammad for your kindness and a memorable experience.
