It was an amazing day with professional driver that make the day nice and visited Saint Catherine Monastery then climbed the mountain.

Well worth it. The walk is a slog, especially at the top, but very do-able. Exhausting but in a good way. Really didn't want it to just feel like an easy jaunt. Sunrise was very pretty. Felt like an achievement. A very good experience. Monastery is cool too. Info...Unless you pay a lot for an individual guide, you're going to be in a cramped shared minibus. Two hours from Dahab to St Catherine. 4hr walk up. 2hr walk down. I went in mid April, possibly 100+ people on the mountain. Weather was great but still cold overnight. Not good for people with knee or hip problems. There are various little stops on the way up for a rest/food/ drink. Toilets are predictably pretty disgusting. You can get a camel ride to the top.

We chose to do the sunrise walk up Mt Sinai. It was a tough walk but absolutely incredible. Sunrise on the top of Mt Sinai was breathtaking. We visited St Catherine's monastery once we were back down the mountain. It was very beautiful. This is a definite must if visiting this area. Tiring but well worth it.
