Begin with pickup at your centrally-located hotel or cruise ship, and will be confirmed by the local supplier after booking. Transfer to a jetty on the Nile River, where you’ll board a boat for Sohail Island. Depending on river conditions and the weather, you’ll travel in a traditional felucca sail boat, or in a modern motorboat. Take in views of the Nile riverbanks on the way to Sohail Island, passing Elephantine Island along the way. Disembark on Sohail Island, and visit a traditional Nubian house to learn about the history and culture of the Nubian people over a glass of welcome tea. After your time at the house, take a walk to explore the island on your own, strolling through brightly-painted villages, and chatting with the locals. At the end of the afternoon, meet back up at the boat jetty, where you’ll begin the return trip to Aswan. This tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel or cruise ship

Tour was nothing as described. Could have just taken a ferry on our own and walked around. Did not learn anything about the Nubian culture. Extremely disappointed and highly highly overpriced for what was provided.

This was an amazing experience. That was a highlight of our trip! There were 10 of us including 6 teenagers. We were picked up on time from our Aswan cruise stop. Then walked onto a boat. As we traveled to the Nubian Village Ahmed pointed out area landmarks and educated us the Aswan area, Elephantine Island and the Nubian culture. He took us to to a local house. Where we met a Nubian family. The kids got to hold their crocodiles and tour their house. Then we had tea and their local Hibiscus drink. We got to visit a school and got a lesson in Arabic. We all learned how to write our names. The kids got to do henna too which Ahmed organized with a few local women. I would highly recommend this tour. It was also a very safe area and easy to navigate for everyone. We were there in the morning before it got too hot. Ahmed was an amazing tour guide and he was so kind. He took time to answer our questions and make us feel welcome in his beautiful city. This is a much better LOCAL experience then our tour operator was offering and cheaper. Ahmed was very flexible he added a few things during the tour that a large tour operator would not be able to do. His family has lived on Elephantine Island for many generations. We just loved meeting a local and having and authentic experience!!!
