If you are flying with AVIANCA Airline, you will have to go to the área between gate 2 and gate 5, there you will find AVIANCA stand (booth), there you will fill a form that will be required at immigration. They will let you know if you have to pay a fee to leave the airport. (Usually when you are having a long layover, like yours.. you dont have to pay, because it is included in your ticket) After this follow the normal process, going directly through immigration and customs. Here you will pay $12.00 USD for a temporary VISA Once you are outside the airport, we will be waiting for you with a sign with your name.

    Upon leaving the plane, a member of our team will be waiting to perform your tax exemption and guide you in the process of leaving the airport.     Once in the city our first destination to visit will be the majestic volcano of San Salvador. We will climb to the top of this volcano, from where we will have beautiful landscapes of the city of San Salvador. The city of San Salvador rests at the foot of this huge volcano. From this first viewpoint, we can observe the lake of Ilopango, the Volcano of San Vicente, and if the weather permits, we can observe the Pacific Ocean. Without a doubt, an unmissable visit.

  • Parque Nacional El Boqueron, San Salvador, El Salvador
    We will continue until we reach the top of the volcano. The El Boquerón National Park is located on the crater of the San Salvador volcano. The name refers to the size of the huge volcanic crater. Arrive at the crater take about 10 minutes through a walk in the middle of lush vegetation, full of beautiful seasonal flowers. The difficulty of the 10 minute walk is medium - low. When you reach the top you can be seduced by the scenic beauty of this magnificent volcanic crater full of vegetation. Walks through 3 viewpoints with different perspectives of the crater, the ideal place for a selfie.

    We will continue with a visit to the city of San Salvador, knowing the most important monuments of the city, crossing the streets and avenues of the most modern metropolitan area. All the way to the Historic Center of San Salvador. In this tour you will be able to see up close as it is the day to day for the Salvadorans, you will have the opportunity to walk through the open markets, and walk in the heart of the historic center of San Salvador. We will visit the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Salvador and the Crypt of Monseñor Romero. We will have beautiful views of the National Palace, we will walk in the square Gerardo neighborhoods. We will visit La Plaza Libertad and discover El Rosario Church, which looks like an abandoned building on the outside, but when entering the architectural beauty is unique at the continent level.

Rafael was a great tour guide for our 1 day lay over! It was highly personalized based on our interests and what we wanted to do in the country. He provides such valuable insight to El Salvador's history. It truly felt like I spent a couple days in El Salvador rather than just a couple of hours. Also, Rafi takes some of the best pictures I have seen!

Osmaro was a great tour guide and I enjoyed my time in El Salvador. He accommodated all my restaurants and ensured I was able to hit most attractions on my list. I was the only one on the tour and I had a fabulous time. I would definitely recommend!!!

Contacted Eco Tours Petate at the airport asking if a tour was available and they were quick to respond that a tour was available. Was given clear directions on how exactly to go through customs/immigration for a stopover. Guide was informative and charismatic. I felt like we got to see a lot of the city in a short amount of time. Also went to el Boquerón which was fantastic, ate lunch and did the slide at Picnic. The ride back to the airport was very smooth and I got back through security and immigration within five minutes! 10/10 recommend if you have a long layover in San Salvador!
