Francesco did a fabulous job of introducing us to Bologna and Modena on two different days ending with a fabulous tour and lunch at a traditional balsamic vinegar farm. I recommend Francesco

This was the second time I had arranged a tour with Francesco. In 2019 we did a full motor valley tour together, which was an incredible day! This time, I was staying in Bologna so decided to book a personalised tour with Francesco, over three days. We visited Bologna, Ravenna, the Lamborghini factory in Sant'Agata Bolognese (yes, for the second time), Modena and Parma, all of which were very different. Francesco is a wonderful, warm and welcoming human being, with an impressive depth of knowledge about the history and culture of Bologna and the Emilia Romagna region. I appreciated his explanations of both the history and the cultural elements of each place we visited. He’s also very well versed in fast cars, my favourite topic! His passion for local food and wine was also very evident from the abundance of great food and wine we tasted. Stops included cafes for the essential espressos, food markets, specialty salumeria for cured meats and cheeses, small restaurants for local dishes and wines, balsamic vinegar tasting and an amazing tour and tasting at a parmigiano reggiano cheese producer. I’m so grateful for my experiences with Francesco and it genuinely felt like I was travelling with a friend. Thank you, Francesco! I will definitely be back. ????

The Bologna Welcome walking tour is a perfect way for newcomers to become familiar with central Bologna. It’s a two hour tour that’s full of handy tips about which places to return to. Our guide Michaela showed us the best places for gelato, local cheese and meat and the historical sites and museums we’ll return to at a more leisurely pace. It’s also a very inexpensive option. Just go to the tourism office opposite the Basilica of San Petronio, and buy a Bologna Welcome pass. For 35 euros for the standard pass or 55 for a pass with the lot you get the walking tour, entry to a range of museums and galleries, 4 hours bike rental, train fare up the mountain, hop on hop off bus trip, discounts and various other offers.
