Explore some of the many famous historical sites and adventure across the spectacular landscape, before evoking memories of the past by jumping on the famous North York Moors Railway. Here you’ll take a trip to the seaside town of Whitby once you arrive in the town it would be rude not to sample the famous Fish and Chips before exploring the historic port town. First stop Byland Abbey to visit the hiostoric ruins, then onto the picture perfect village of Helmsely. After that we'll make our way to join the North York Moors Railway, for a nostolgic ride on their steam train. (Please note 26th-29th September the train will not be running) Enjoy the views of the North York Moors before arriving in the seaside town of Whitby. Here youcan wonder about the town, enjoy some local fish and chips or explore the fasinating history of the town. It's the perfect day out!

A great day trip led by John S our excellent driver and his local knowledge was superb. We had fun whilst we learned about all aspects of life in Yorkshire,the history of the area and we saw many interesting sights on the journey by bus and train. We particulary enjoyed the fact we were off the beaten track enjoying nature at its best on the moors and it was a fun day out and a holiday highlight. Thanks and diolch John S

Overall, the itinerary itself was relatively enjoyable: Helmsley and Whitby were great towns and our drive-by sites were interesting, but the timing could have been improved upon. We needed more time in Helmsley, there were no stops with food during lunch time, and there was an excessive amount of drive time through the moors. The train ride was incredibly disappointing and a major waste of time. Unfortunately, what really spoiled this experience was the host. While he had interesting information to share, it was almost all about flora and fauna with very little deviation in topic. He talked consistently throughout the 8 hour day and had a very dry and boring presentation style. This was worsened when, after multiple complaints about the temperature of the bus, he spent very little effort attempting to control the AC and did not seem to care about the discomfort of the guests. This also showed in his jerky driving style on the already uncomfortable bumpy roads of the moors (if I have one piece of advice: bring Dramamine!!).

No words are enough to describe how much i enjoyed this tour. Magical stops. Well organized. Perfect tour guide who is very nice and knowledgeable. The whole ride was amazing. The train ride (historical) was a bonus. Oh how much i love this trip, it is one of my favorites.
