We came on this free 2 hour walking tour of York - just to get us accustomed with the area. Allan was very friendly and a literal, walking and talking history book. There was nothing he didn’t know and he was incredible with his facts, history, dates and passion for the subject of York. I was thrilled to discover as a Game of Thrones fan that George R. R. Martin actually used York as the basis for his books, as he fell in love with the history. We even walked beneath the inspiration for the gates of Winterfell……he explained that the castle in York was also the original Castle Black. I would highly recommend a tour like this, as it’s good way to discover a new place.

Did tour with David Haw. Excellent very informative, interesting, personal and slightly eccentric. Would really recommend. Very approachable and introduced us to some of the modern day characters as well as those of ancient York.
