Muthurajawela is a marsh in Sri Lanka in the southern region of the Negombo lagoon. The
Muthurajawela Marshes are 3,068 ha (7,580 acres) in area and the country's largest saline
coastal peat bog. The marsh is notable for its unique and highly diverse ecosystem and is listed
as one of 12 priority wetlands in Sri Lanka. "Muthurajawela" translates to "Swamp of Royal
Treasure". The marsh is believed to have originated about 7,000 years ago. In 1996 1,777 ha
(4,390 acres) of the northern part of the Muthurajawela marsh was declared a wetland
sanctuary by the government, under the Flora and Fauna Protection Act, in recognition of its
vast bio-diversity. The region supports 192 distinct species of flora and 209 distinct species of
fauna, including Slender Loris, as well as another 102 species of birds. Some of the identified
species have been shown to be indigenous to the marsh.

Climate/weather: Sri Lanka has a tropical climate and is always warm. however its much cooler in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Ella thus warm clothes are recommended and Sri lanka observe two monsoon southwest monsoon May to September rainfalls to southwest part and western side of central mountains, Northeast monsoon season will effect from December to February brings rains to north and north east part of the country.
Temples and Dress Code: As a mark of respect both gender should cover shoulders and knees when entering a place of worship in Sri Lanka. You are also required to remove shoes and hats and you are not allow take a photos turning back statue or in front of the statue .
For all travelers valid passport and visa is required. All visitors are encouraged to apply visas through (ETA - Electronic Travel Authorization) through http://www.eta.gov.lk/slvisa/. Tourist visa is valid for three months hence passport should be valid for no less than six months after the holder’s date of arrival.
Immunizations and Health: No immunizations needed. Dengue fever is prolific in the region but there is no vaccination against it so travelers need to take precautions against mosquito bites and visit the nearest hospital if they suspect infection and advisable to bring the Insects repellent and Sun cream.

For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
