If you want to get a taste of the authentic local culture instead of visiting the standard tourist attractions in Tirana, the best thing to do is to jump into this day tour. We will have the opportunity to try Byrek and have breakfast like a local. The journey then leads towards Çam bazaar. With your local companion by your side, you’ll skip past the tourist traps and discover the city’s culinary highlights in some of our favourite local neighbourhoods, where you'll have the opportunity to savour a traditional dessert at an authentic pastry. We will join locals at a cosy café and taste traditional "Albanian coffee". The next stop of our local adventure takes us to the New Bazaar. We will try the traditional Albanian lunch – "Qofte" (meatballs) paired with freshly baked bread. Vegetarians can enjoy freshly baked bread with Albanian Gjize (cottage cheese). To end this tour in the best way, we will also taste some Albanian Raki.

    If you want to get a taste of the authentic local culture instead of visiting the standard tourist attractions in Tirana, the best thing to do is to jump into this day tour. We will start our excellent walking tour at our Office where you will meet with your local companion. You will have an insight into the hidden alleyways and bustling street markets of Tirana, where dozens of street hawkers sell fresh vegetables and fruits. After walking through the busy streets, we will try Byrek at a small local place that only locals know how to find. The famous traditional Albanian food is dough with all kinds of filling such as cheese, meat or spinach. Have breakfast like a local by pairing it with the traditional Albanian drink “Dhalle”.

    Next, we will walk towards Çam bazaar, founded by the Albanian Çam community, who originally came from an area called Çameria in today’s North-western Greece. Here you can buy all kinds of goods from clothes to kitchen equipment and bargain with the sellers for a cheaper price.

    On our way to the next bazaar, we will stroll around and discover the city’s neighbourhoods and hidden gems. You will be able to absorb the local vibes by visiting the so called Bicycle bazaar, where you can find everything, from second hand clothes to second hand furniture.

    The tour will continue towards new bazaar, located in the most colourful area of Tirana. You will get to know the city and its local people through getting to know the local cuisine during lunch time. We will try the traditional Qofte (small pieces of meat filled with spices), fried potatoes, fresh bread and traditional sauce. There are also vegetarian options for the ones who do not eat meat. To end this tour in the best way, we will try some Albanian Raki as well. As we Albanians say, there is nothing that Raki can’t fix

Markel our guide was fantastic. He was engaging and informative throughout the whole tour and answered all our questions. We spent the day exploring places we would not have found without his help. The bazar was wonderful and we stopped and had some fruit grown locally. Delicious pastry for breakfast, sampled cheeses, honey and nuts. We then had a traditional Albanian lunch. Our day was super busy and so much fun. I would really reccomend doing it. Be prepared for a lot of walking.

Half day walk through the city with several stops for food tasting. The day started with burek as breakfast, continued with fruit, honey and cheese tasting before reaching lunch destination and finishing with raki in famous bar. There was also stop for real Turkish coffee in small café. In between the delights, plenty of local markets, interesting places and explanation about history, traditions and food. I really enjoyed the walk.

My friend and I booked this tour and we had an absolute great time! Our tour guide Markel was great! He gave great info about Albania and the city, and made us feel like we were hanging out as friends; sharing stories about Albania, his culture and learning so much from him. The food was also great. He took us to a lot of Local spots that I would have never found on my own, and we tried many delicious Albanian dishes. Come to this tour hungry because you will leave full. I strongly recommend this tour for anyone, and it’s a fun way to get to lean more about Tirana and Albania. Thanks for a great day Markel!!
