Ranua Wildlife Park is home to over 50 species and 200 individual animals native to the Arctic region, animals including the polar bear, arctic fox, reindeer, otters, minxes, foxes and wolves. There are also birds including owls, buzzards and snow geese. You can tour the zoo and see the animals being fed. In summer there is also a domestic animal zoo and you can ride ponies or Finnish horses. Less animated but still interesting are the arctic rocks in the Rock Park. The landscape around the zoo is beautiful and worth a visit in itself. The trail around the park is around 1.5 miles (2.5 km).

Traveled with two kids and they had such a great time! The trail was just long enough to keep them engaged without getting tired. They loved the reindeer and snowy owls. There were sleds for the little one which made it easier to move around. Also, having our own car and guide made the experience feel personal and smooth from start to finish.

We booked this tour because we didn’t want to deal with public transport, and it was the best choice. The private car was warm and comfortable, and the zoo itself was peaceful with beautiful snowy paths. Seeing polar bears and arctic foxes up close in that setting felt really special. Would recommend this if you want something easy and relaxed for the day.

If you’re into nature and want something easygoing, this tour is great. The Ranua Zoo is outdoors and feels more like a nature walk than a typical zoo. We saw lynx, wolves, reindeer, and birds we’d never seen before. It wasn’t rushed, and we could stop wherever we wanted. Nice change of pace from other touristy activities.
