Korouoma is a 30 kilometer long geological fracture valley in Posio. It is a part of a fracture zone in the bedrock, which is hundreds of millions of years old. At the center of Korouoma the fracture valley forms a gorge with high cliff faces. Small streams which cascade down the cliff faces in the summer, freeze into beautiful frozen waterfalls during winter, making Korouoma the number one ice climbing destination in Finland.

Très jolie rando , en tout nous avons marché moins de 3h pour voir les cascades gelées . Je recommande c'est un très bel endroit à visiter

La experiencia ha sido muy satisfactoria, aunque en esta época hay mucho hielo y en algunos tramos del camino había mucho hielo y el ir en cuidado era poco. Lo recomiendo para personas que estén acostumbradas al senderismo, yo no lo hago nunca y para mi fue un poco difícil.

This hike was excellent. The walk was not for the faint of heart - some parts were very slippery ice and very steep but as a group of keen walkers we had an amazing time. The landscape and vistas are wonderful and it was great to get out and about and spend several hours trekking through nature frozen in its majesty all around us. Our guides Lena and Kirill were so warm and knowledgeable, we met as strangers and parted as friends. They kindly provided vegan sausages, biscuits and hot chocolates for us to enjoy around the fire with the other, non-vegan attendees. If you're planning to do this walk, I'd highly recommend going with Helios Tours.
