    The Accademia has housed the David since 1873. It also has other sculptures by Michelangelo; a large collection of Florentine paintings from 1300 to 1600; mural-like pieces from Perugino, Filippino Lippi, Pontormo, Domenico Ghirlandaio, and Bronzino; and, downstairs, Florentine Gothic paintings, including altarpieces by Giotto.

We had a very good tour with Manuela. She was very passionate about Mikelangelo and I think we got a real essence of what kind of artist and man he was.
