This fabulous private day trip to Lucca and Pisa will give you ample time to explore both these fascinating cities. You’ll see all the world famous monuments in Pisa, as well as delve into the culture and soak up the special atmosphere in the lesser known Lucca, a real Tuscan gem.     Upon arrival, your guide will lead you straight to the famous Square of Miracles.     Hear stories about Puccini, the most famous person from Lucca and opera writer. Perhaps you are thinking 'I'm not a big fan of opera so I wouldn't know' , but if I say Madam Butterfly, even those who don't know much about opera have heard of it! And do you remember Nessun Dorma, made famous by Pavarotti? Well that was Puccini too. He also wrote Turandot, Tosca, and la Boheme. The house museum is located in the historic center of Lucca, in corte San Lorenzo, n. 8: this is where the composer was born on December 22, 1958 and spent his early years training in music before moving to Milan. Puccini lived in many houses throughout his life, but he always had a special place in his heart for the one in Lucca.

    San Michele in Foro is one of the most beautiful churches located in the Roman center of Lucca. This basilica dates back to the year 1000 and conserves priceless works of art. A large marble statue depicts the Archangel Michael defeating the dragon is placed at the top of the facade. Legend says that on bright days you can see a green sparkle gleaming on the statue, which some believe may be an emerald nestled somewhere in the statue, but the stone has never been found.

This was the most amazing tour of our trip so far. I’m in love with Lucca. Alex is the best tour guide I’ve had the pleasure of meeting! I would give him 10 stars if I could. Our driver(sorry I don’t remember her name) was awesome as well. This was the best! Thank you for making our visit here unforgettable!

I had a great time on this tour with Alex as my guide and the driver Francesca. They were at the predetermined meeting location on time and ready to start. Alex was very informative and knowledgeable about the surrounding areas as we headed out of Florence on the tour routes to Pisa and Lucca. While I had more than enough time to wander through both stops of Pisa and Lucca, Alex made sure to point out additional things of interest to see on the tour. Many of the members of the group that I traveled with (12 total people) asked me if they could book a similar tour the next day with Alex as the guide. Unfortunately (due to internet issues at the hotel) we could not find a tour until it was listed as unavailable for the next day. If available, I highly reccommend these Alex and Francesca as your guides through the Tuscany region and beyond.
