    We will meet at the main entrance of the pharmacy inside Santa Maria Novella train station at 7:30am. Look up for our Tour Leader, easily recognizable by their purple T-shirt. After a brief introduction about the day you will board on a train to Pisa. If you are running late and unfortunately miss the group, don't worry take the first train independently to Pisa and meet the group there. On the train have a little nap or enjoy your scenic ride out of the city, arriving in Pisa approximately 1h30m later.

  • Leaning Tower of Pisa, Pisa, Italy
    Upon arrival, follow your tour leader to the Field of Dreams (Piazza dei Miracoli), a verdant expanse home to the city’s most important sights: the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Baptistery and the Duomo. Here you will be completely free to visit the main sights independently for 1h30mins

  • Piazza dei Miracoli, Pisa, Italy
    During your free time you can pose for photos by the Leaning Tower and, depending on availability, head inside for a guided tour (own expense). Alternatively, make for the Duomo (own expense) to marvel at its carved pulpit by Giovanni Pisano, or head inside the Baptistery (own expense) to test the unusual acoustics or sit in a local bar for a coffee. If you wish to book in advance your tickets to the Leaning Tower, we recommend the 10:00am entrance.

  • La Spezia, La Spezia, Italy
    Meet back with the rest of the group and your tour leader and take a 1h train to La Spezia, the gateway to the famous Cinque Terre, a string of five picturesque fishing villages along the rugged coastline. Once at the train station in La Spezia you will have some time to grab some food in one of the local stores or pop down to the toilet before you board again on a local regional train to reach the National Park of Cinque Terre. Cinque Terre can only be seen by local trains so expect some crowds and some train delays.

  • Riomaggiore, Riomaggiore, Italy
    Reach Riomaggiore from La Spezia with a 10 mins train ride. Here you will have 1 hour. Wonder at the tightly packed pastel buildings as you stroll along the cobbled streets with your guide. Learn from your local guide that centuries ago in Riomaggiore, the tall, colorful houses were built in rows with alleys, arches, and steps for defense against pirates and that each house till today has two entrances, one at the front and one at the back on the higher road, for easy escape during attacks. In June, July & August the stop in this village is not available due to the crowds in Cinque Terre to allow to spend more time in the other 2 villages which are considered the most beautiful ones.

  • Vernazza, Vernazza, Italy
    Continue by train to Vernazza, a seaside town that surrounds a tiny, natural port. Vernazza is perhaps the most beautiful of the five villages of the Cinque Terre. Enjoy 1 hour free time to soak up the sun on the pretty beach, or dive into the cooling waters for a swim. In Vernazza you can enjoy also the elegant houses, the romantic restaurants and breathtaking viewpoints.

  • Manarola, Manarola, Italy
    Your final stop is Manarola renowned for its breathtaking coastal scenery. The village is perched on a rugged cliff overlooking the Ligurian Sea, with colorful houses cascading down to the harbor. This picturesque setting makes Manarola one of the most photographed locations in Italy. Here you will have 1 hour . Wander along the harbor and spend a few minutes snapping photos of the picturesque buildings that cascade toward the sea.

  • Florence, Florence, Italy
    From Manarola we will take the train back to La Spezia or Pisa. Here we will take the last train of the day to return back to Florence, where your tour concludes. The journey is 2h30m. On the way back you can simply have a nap and rest after a long day or chat with your new travel friends . -------------------- ITINERARY -------------------- Please note: Via dell’Amore is closed to the public due to landslide damage.

In high season ( June, July & August ) due to the popularity of the villages, the trains could be very crowed and hot, be prepared. In these months we will visit two villages instead of 3 to allow everyone to relax longer in the villages visited.

  • In summer it is recommended to bring hat, sun cream, bottle of water and swimming suit. In winter it is recommended to bring a rain jacket in the event of bad weather.

We had a great time on our tour. It was quite a long day, but we’re happy we got to see both Pisa and 3 of the 5 famous towns in Cinque Terre. In Pisa, we also opted to get 10 am tickets to climb the tower, and that was definitely worth it for us. The view was spectacular, and it was such a unique experience to climb a building like that. Unfortunately the weather stopped cooperating one we got to Cinque Terre (steady light rain with off and on periods of heavier rain). It was also the slow season, so quite a few place were closed. But neither of those things were our guide’s fault. Kristine was fantastic and made sure everyone in the group knew exactly how much time we had, where to meet, and what trains to get on. Our only disappointment (other than the weather) was that a lot of the tour felt a bit rushed. It might’ve been nicer to go to a single Cinque Terre town so we had longer to spend there, but at the same time, we knew what we were signing up for with a trip that encompassed so much!

Excellent tour with adequate time to visit briefly all the places, fortunately it was a time where there were so many tourists and we could enjoy it. Beautiful places both Pisa and Cinque Terre. Kristina excellent guide very friendly and concerned about her group. We really liked it.

Our guide Ned was fabulous! So knowledgeable about everything on this 13 hour tour. Cinque Terra was unbelievably beautiful! He kept everyone on track and was so personable. He even warned us in Pisa about suspicious people who we watched pick pocket someone! We highly recommend this tour and hope you get Ned as your guide!
