Meet your host at Mercato Centrale market - a large, covered market housed in a historic 1874 Art Deco glass structure that sells meat, seafood, charcuterie, fruits and vegetables. It’s the central market of Florence and one of the most interesting and colorful markets of Europe. Walk around, explore local and regional produce sold by your host's favored vendors, and purchase a few ingredients to use during your cooking class after the tour. Back home, join your host in the kitchen of his Florence apartment to learn to cook a regional Florentine meal from recipes that he has perfected over the years in a casual atmosphere! Your cooking lesson will last about 1.5 hours, and you will prepare three different dishes from scratch before you sit down at the table to share the meal you helped prepare. Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to learn about Italian culture and cuisine from a passionate local in his simple apartment!

    Meet your host Alessio at Mercato Centrale, a large, covered market housed in a historic 1874 Art Deco glass structure that sells meat, seafood, fruits and vegetables to Florentines. It’s the central market of Florence and one of the most interesting and colorful markets of Europe where you will find locals and tourists alike. Walk through the market and explore with your host local and regional produce sold by his favored vendors at the market. You will purchase a few ingredients that you will use during your cooking class after the market tour. Your market tour will last about one hour before you hop into a bus or car with Alessio for a 15-minute drive back to his apartment. Join your host Alessio in his apartment kitchen to learn to cook a regional Florentine meal from recipes that he has perfected over the years. Your hands-on cooking class will last about two hours. You will learn to cook three dishes from scratch such as an antipasto, main of meat or a pasta, and a dessert.

We had a wonderful experience with our In-home chef, Alessio. He was honest and helpful with purchases of ingredients. His instructions and tips to authentic Italian cooking were easy to understand and replicate. He had even gone into the woods to pick fresh porcini mushrooms the day prior to our class for use with our dish. Highly recommended.

My 14 year old son and I opted for a market tour and home cooking lesson with Mirella and Stefano. We had a really wonderful time. I was especially pleased that they treated my son as a competent cook (which he is) and allowed him to fully participate. I’ve been to classes where he has been treated as a child and not been given opportunities to chop and make the pasta. Mirella and Stefano were charming and welcoming. We’ve cooked a lot of Italian food so the menu was familiar but delicious. The best part was cooking together and comparing life and experiences. Bravo, guys! Highly recommended.
