My husband went on this tour because, like so many others, I am fascinated by pirates and their history! This museum is not filled with replicas, it is actual found treasure. You can even have an opportunity to lift a 25-lb silver brick! You will hear about the ship, its treasure, and how Mel Fisher found it!

Key West is snorkeling, boating, history, cigar making and, among other things, maritime history. Mel Fisher is famous for discovering a major shipwreck off the coast that was front page news back in the day. This museum closely details that story, and more about the wrecking history of KW. On the second floor the current exhibit is about the slave trade, which KW also played a role in. Not as glamorous as finding doubloons, but part of our history that is not overlooked by this museum.

The tour is underwhelming if you expect much treasure and artifacts. There is just a few less spectacular treasure items . Most of the exhibits are to be read about, somewhat more like a history book than a museum. For the admission price, not worth it. Very little to see.
