It is the Perfect tour for nature and heritage lovers… there is some breathtaking landscape and I will tell you more about the Cathars… This tour will also enable you to discover 2 beautiful and picturesque medieval villages. This tour require a good physical condition, and good walking shoes to be able to hike to Montségur castle. Accessible to any person with a good physical condition able to hike.     Our first stop is Mirepoix, a beautiful medieval village dating from the 10th century. The large central square is flanked by a magnificent covered arcade, created by half timbered houses supported on wooden pillars.

  • Chateau de Montsegur, Montsegur, France
    We then drive to the Château de Montségur, where the last stake of the Crusade against the Cathars occured in the 13th century. We then spend a relaxing lunch, enjoying the local cuisine.

  • Camon, Camon, France
    Next stop is for a relaxing walk in Camon, picturesque medieval village, classified amongst the most beauftiful villages of France, it is also known for its hundreds rose trees that are perfuming and decorating the streets. Camon was founded around a Benedictine abbey in the Xth century.

  • Montségur hiking is not recommended to pregnant travelers or with heart problems or other serious medical conditions. But they can do all the other activities of the day.

This was a Brilliant Tour from start to finish and I very strongly recommend it to anyone who has a love of Stunning Castles, Beautiful Countryside and Excellent French Food! Olivia was a superb and caring guide throughout and was not only highly knowledgeable about the local history but also used an energetic and wonderfully easy-to-understand presentational style when telling us all about it.
