A 130-meter long rooftop walkway links the fort to the Museum of the Civilisations of Europe and the Mediterranean - colloquially known as the MuCEM -, the centrepiece of Marseille’s stint as European Capital Culture in 2013.

La Maison Diamantee, Marseille, France Besides its name, the history of this house is a curiosity in itself. Located just behind the City Hall, the Maison Diamantée (Diamond House) owes its name to its facade of pointed stones.
It was built between the end of the 16th and the beginning of the 17th century (perhaps 1570 but there is still some doubt). This makes it one of the oldest houses in Marseille with the Hôtel Cabre. It was built on the demand of wealthy Italian and Spanish traders. With its architectural beauty and style inspired by the Medici Italy, it has long housed the famous Marseilles families such as the Saboulin.
