Winery Tour & Wine Tasting - Deli Plate & 3 Wines

My husband booked this tour for us having read the the great reviews, we were not disappointed. We were staying just on the outskirts of Carcassonne and travelled by taxi to the vineyard which is situated in Villemoustaussou, it took a little over 10 minutes and only cost around 15 euros. We were met by Joe and his wife Liz on arrival, who welcomed us with a lovely chilled glass of white wine. We were joined by another English couple and a Dutch couple, after introductions Joe began telling us about the vineyard and then took us on a tour, which was very informative and interesting. We were shown around the fermentation room and Joe talked through the process, we got to sample some of the wine directly from the tanks, which was lovely. Joe explained that you could mix the wines to create your own flavours, which of course we did. Very nice indeed! After the tour we were then shown back to the house where Liz had cooked us some lovely food, this was accompanied by more wine. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and of course we had to buy some of the wine, I am looking forward to it arriving :) Well worth a visit and we will be back when we are next in the area.

A large group of us visited O'Vineyards and had a lovely 2-hour tour around the vineyard and winery. Joe is a great host and we sampled a nice white wine on arrival and then he took us outside to chat about the beginnings of the vineyard and show us the various grapes he groups. We also visited the fermentation room and sample 3 red wines (a Merlot, a Cabinet Sauvignon, and another red I didn't try) before trying an aged wine from a barrel which was delicious! Joe did his best to answer our many questions about making wines and dispel some of the myths you might hear so it was a very relaxing wine tour with absolutely no snobbery of any kind and lots and lots of wine!! We returned to the house where our wine was topped up and his lovely wife served us a delicious plate of food - with pate and garlic bread, baked potato, and deep fried crispy bacon of some kind of which went beautifully with the wine. Well worth the 60 euro and short taxi journey out from Carcassone town into the countryside whether you are a wine connoisseur or not.

Fantastic. 15 minutes from Carcassonne in beautiful Languedoc countryside is Joe and Liz’s piece of heaven. We learned about his wines from the vine to the glass (lots of glasses!) in a laid back, funny, unpretentious tour. It was rounded off with some lovely food and great craic with the other visitors. I’ll be back.
