This is a great experience if you have experience with small boats, small motors, wind and waves. I am not an expert in any of these, but we had done something similar when we went to a floating cabin in Alaska and used a small boat/motor to fish/see wildlife/take photos. Pick up was prompt and our excursion fee included transportation. There was a little confusing about where/what the Westin Base Dock - but since the Westin is out on the spit, there is a Westin shuttle to and from their base dock for transporting staff, supplies, people, etc. Once we got that sorted out, we were picked up and transported to the rental boat dock, signed our liability papers, got some great tips on boat operation, where to go, a map, an emergency phone, a prayer for our safe return (JUST KIDDING), and off we went. It was a little windy, with a little wave action, but after we got to where we were going it was fine. I'd do it again, but I might pick a time with a little less wind. We got back ahead of our schedule and had a quick drink at the co-located beach bar, then transferred back to Westin Base for our water ferry over to the Westin. Travel Tip - look behind you as you depart the dock in your boat so you know what to look for when you come back. Another tip - you can't fish from the boat per their rules, which we did not see on the website.
