During this small group tour you will visit 3 wineries and it'll give you a good overview on the wine-making scene of Šumadija. You'll try wines from local indigenous varieties in Despotika Winery, then you'll learn about the King's Wine Cellar and its historical exhibition where you'll try 2 of their wines. At the end you'll explore the eminent Aleksandrović Winery and here you'll learn why they are considered for a premium Serbian winemaker.     ​Your first wine stop is the village of Vlaški Do and Despotika Winery, a relatively young winery with ambitious plans and an enthusiastic owner. Despotika has several wine labels made from different kinds of grapes, but one is unique – Morava, indigenous Serbian grape variety. Only a few winemakers in Serbia grow Morava, so you’ll have a unique opportunity to try this white wine. You'll also try two more wines from indigenous grape variety - Prokupac. You'll try rose from and red.

  • Topola, Serbia
    The wine tour goes on to the capital of Šumadija wine region, to the town Topola. This is where the Royal family Karađorđević set up their vineyards and created the famous Trijumf (Triumph) wine. You will see the original king’s wine cellar and you'll learn how the king made his wine some 85 year ago. The biggest treasure of the Royal Cellar is the old archive where they keep wines from 1930s. After the visit of the old cellars you'll try their contemporary wines: Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon.

  • Winery Aleksandrovic, Topola, Serbia
    As the last stop on the wine itinerary we'll take you to a premium Serbian winemaker - Aleksandrović. We will explain what connects King's Winery and Aleksandrović Winery. After a short introduction and tour through their cellar you'll try three of their wines. One of them will be the Triumph wine, made by the original recipe as in the King's Winery.

  • Jovana Skerlića 1a, Topola, Serbia
    After all the wine stops are covered, you'll take a lunch break in an excellent local restaurant in Topola. Your guide will assist you with the choice of food and drinks. The restaurant has a great choice of Šumadija wines, so if you are in the mood of trying some more, you'll be in a perfect spot. Recommendations on what to order will be provided. After you finish lunch, we'll take you back to Belgrade.

We spent a great day with Miljan who thought us the wine history of Serbia, and explained about indigenous grapes and wine production in Serbia. We visited 3 wineries and tasted 8 wines in total, covering white, rose and red wines from both indigenous and international grapes. We also had a lunch stop were we learned about and explored the Serbia cuisine. I can highly recommend joining this tour!

The guide Miljan was perfect, knowledgeable in wines, history… you name it. Sumadija is beautiful, wines taste lovely but we missed some/any nibbles during the wine tasting except in winery Despotika were we got TUC crackers. This probably can be arranged with the wineries and its nothing to blame the guide. We recommend this tour from the bottom of our hearts! Thank you!

Our tourhost Andrija was professional, knowledgeable and fun to spend a day with. We visited and enjoyed Serbian wine while getting tours of each winery and learning about the history and artistic craft of each wine. The winemasters are proud of their product and enjoy sharing with guests. We also visited the Royal Winery along with its informative museum. This tour was spectacular in many ways. From learning about the rich history of Serbia snd its proud culture to seeing the breathtaking countryside. We will be booking another tour this week. Serbia is a wonderful country with warm welcoming people. Serbian Private Tours and their staff are wonderful ambassadors of this majestic country.
