Met John just before hopping the train to Salzburg. The 2 hour trip just zipped right by with the history tidbits! Great communication so we knew what to expect on our day. The raindrops didn’t slow us down at all and were able to maximize our day with great food and scenery of Salzburg. Highlight was definitely the St Peter’s cathedral and cemetery.

On my trip to Salzburg, I had the absolute pleasure of having John as my tour guide — and let me tell you, he’s one of the best I’ve had since arriving in Germany. I’ve taken many tours over the past month, and John stands out as truly top-notch.
If you ever get the chance to explore the Austrian countryside, do it — Salzburg is magical. Nestled right on the border of Germany, it offers stunning views of the Eastern Alps. It’s the birthplace of Mozart and, of course, famously tied to The Sound of Music. One of the highlights of the tour was visiting the very spot where Julie Andrews danced around the fountain and walked down the steps through the gates — surreal and breathtaking.
We wandered through the charming streets of Salzburg, taking in the beauty and history of the city. At one point, we stopped at the legendary Hotel Sacher — a five-star luxury hotel in Vienna known for its iconic Sachertorte. That cake? Next-level. A chocolate sponge layered with apricot jam and finished with a rich chocolate glaze — pure decadence.
The entire day was filled with unforgettable sights and meaningful moments, all made even more special by John’s guidance. He’s funny, warm, incredibly knowledgeable, and makes you feel like part of his family.
Take this tour. Ask for John. You won’t regret it!
