If you are looking for an extreme adventure and hike thru less known areas of El Yunque Rainforest, this is the one for you!  You will get to explore many "off the beaten path" trails with secluded fresh water pools, rope swings, bamboo forest paths, majestic views, a water slide, and rocks to jump from.  This for sure will be your favorite activity in Puerto Rico! Please note: This adventure may not be suitable for everyone due to it's level of difficulty.  Please read all Additional Information provided on this description before booking.  Do not hesitate to contact us for inquiries or more information.

    Your initial hike is an approximate 30-minute journey on a river-wading and rock-scaling path to the river. This area is surrounded by bamboo trees, rainforest flowers, and many other beautiful plants. We will make a stop to visit a collecting pool that forms at the base of a small waterfall by the river. Here you will have the opportunity to swim in its crystal clear waters or jump from a rope and enjoy the different tones of its deep pools. A glimpse at the first waterfall is great for picture opportunities! The adventure finishes in another pool area, its best-kept secret. After a few minutes of hiking and rock climbing (more advanced), arrive at a natural river where you can swim, cliff jump, and enjoy the natural water slides as many times as you would like! After the tour ends we will stop at a local restaurant for a late lunch (food cost not included), before returning to San Juan or your initial meeting point. This stop will take from 1 to 1.5 hours.

  • Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
  • Pregnant women, persons with back or knee problems, previous injuries or surgeries, heart conditions, mobility impairments or other serious medical conditions cannot participate on this tour
  • Hiking shoes or tennis with good grip is required (closed toe), water shoes are also recommended to bring along.
  • You must have a good breakfast before departing on this tour
  • This is a moderate to strenuous activity, that may not be suitable for everyone. Please ensure you read and understand all this activity entails.
  • Wear swimsuit underneath, bring a towel and a change of clothes.
  • At time of booking, Cruise ship passengers must provide the following information at time of booking: ship name, docking time, disembarkation time and re-boarding time
  • Refunds will not be issued if tour/activity is missed due to late or non-arrival of cruise ship
  • Minimum age is 7 years to participate
  • Subject to favorable weather conditions. If canceled due to poor weather, you will be given the option of an alternative date or full refund.
  • Due to safety reasons participants must be able to understand English or Spanish. Legally blind or deaf persons are not able to participate due to the same. A Private tour would be the most appropriate option on these cases.
  • Once you begin the tour, you must finish it all the way up to the second stop and return back with the group.
  • On Saturdays the hike is longer and more challenging since we depart from a different point.
  • Bus will wait only 5 minutes after your assigned pick up time. No refunds will be issued if you miss your pick up.
  • Estimated tour duration of 8 hours includes: 3.5 hours at the forest, 1.5 hr driving each way and lunch time.
  • Please travel light and only bring the necessary to the tour, there are no locker facilities. Leave behind electronic devices, any important documentation like passport, large sums of cash or credit cards. Cell phones require waterproof case.
  • Bespoke LM Reserves the Right of Admission - If a person appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, not following instructions, being disruptive or not dressed appropriately (due safety) the Guide has the right to Cancel their reservation at any moment, and No Refunds will be issued due to this.
  • Published starting time is only an estimate. Exact pick up time will be provided the DAY PRIOR to your tour.
  • Persons with the previously listed health restrictions cannot participate on the tour. No refunds will be authorized if a person neglects to read complete description and does not meet the safety requirements and limitations on the day of the tour.
You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.
  • For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.
  • This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.

It was a fantastic trip and definitely worth it. Jason was awesome and very knowledgeable on Puerto Rican history and ecology, and kept the pace appropriate for varying skillsets. If you have experience hiking, it may make you antsy to have to wait for others at times, but it helps you slow down and appreciate the beauty of the rainforest. Prepare for 3 miles total of walking and mud mud mud. Wepa!

Adriana was the BEST tour guide. Energetic, encouraging, fun, and super knowledgeable about El Yunque. She really made it a special trip to a special place. Things to know: the hike is pretty challenging. Be ready to hike through mud (“embrace the mud!” as Adriana told us). It can be slippery. Then to get to the top, where the real fun begins (water slide and cliff jumping!), there’s some challenging rock climbs. But Adriana talked us through each section and made sure we all made it safely. Bring a change of clothes and another pair of shoes. Your shoes will be soaked. I’m glad I booked through Viator because of Adriana and the fact that Viator seemed to be the only group with helmets, which seemed like a good idea when sliding in the water down the face of a mountain! Great tour!

This was such a fun day in the Rainforest! Jason and Luis created such a fun vibe from the very beginning and by the time we reached the rainforest we were already "family." Loved all the activities--waterslide, rope swing, swimming, hiking. I would say it was a more difficult/dangerous hike than expected. Highly recommend good hiking shoes over water shoes! And take it easy on the rocky, slippery parts or you will regret it. But we came out no worse for wear and had a delightful time. A trip highlight for sure and it was definitely enhanced by our tour leaders. Thanks so much Jason and Luis!
