Join our approximately 7-hour small group tour to explore the stunning temples outside Angkor Thom, including the intricately carved Banteay Srei. This well-preserved sandstone temple is renowned for its detailed reliefs, considered the finest in Cambodia. Banteay Srei has been accessible since the late 1990s.     Today we visit the most interesting temples outside Angkor Thom city. Departing your hotel at 8.00 am, you begin with first stop at Pre Rup Hindu temple built as the state temple of Khmer king Rajendravarman and dedicated in 961 or early 962. It is a temple mountain of combined brick, laterite and sandstone construction.

  • Banteay Srei, Siem Reap, Cambodia
    Continue a drive for the intricately carved and well-preserved Banteay Srei. The detailed reliefs on this smaller sandstone structure are regarded as the finest, most skillfully crafted in Cambodia. Banteay Srei has only been accessible since the late 1990s, when the Khmer Rouge left the area. We end our touring at Angkor with lunch at the temple (own expense), and a short rest.

    Construction of this site was commissioned by the great 'temple builder' Jayavaraman VII (in honour of his father) and a visit to this smaller site makes for an interesting contrast with the more imposing Angkor Wat. Preah Khan is currently being restored by the World Monument Fund and in places is in remarkably good condition.

This tour is breathtaking, a must do. Visiting temples that are outside of Angkor Wat itself, but still part of the Angkor heritage site, has a slightly different feel, neither is better, they’re different. Our guide, Bun, is the best guide I’ve ever had - knowledgable, open, caring, looked out for everyone in the group, plenty of rest and toilet breaks along the way. He shared a lot about the history of Cambodia overall and what life looks like today. We also stopped at a local village which was a highlight for me - seeing daily life of the local people. This tour will not disappoint, especially if you get Bun as the guide.

This was a really amazing and special day that we won’t forget! Our guide Bun was exceptional. He was incredibly knowledgable about the beautiful temples we saw and you could tell that it meant a lot to him and he really cared. He told us the meaning behind so many small things that we would not have otherwise even noticed. He was so friendly and made sure we were all comfortable and happy all day. He shared so much amazing Cambodian history including his personal experiences which was so important and fascinating. He also took us to a village and we had a really magical experience eating mangoes freshly off a tree picked by a woman who lived there and seeing palm cake being made and then eating it fresh which was delicious and such a lovely group moment. Our driver Mr Seyha was also really lovely providing us with plenty of cold water and cold towels throughout the day to keep us cool. Thank you so much for today!!!
