This was an incredible trip. We had to wake up very early and drive a good 3-4 hours each way but it was very well worth the trouble. You can also sleep on the way there and back in the van. We were taken by Van and it was comfortable with air conditioning. We slept on and off so it didn’t feel that bad. They make one stop each way. There are two drivers who switch off so that actually made me feel safer. You are about 50km from the Sudanese border and it has not always been the safest area but it was perfectly safe when we were there. Now for the pièce de résistance: the Temples themselves! WOW! It was worth the drive and the early wake up. The history and information provided by our wonderful guide Marcos was great. And the sites themselves were an absolute marvel. We really enjoyed our time here. The only negative thing about the visit was the annoying shop keepers on your way out, but that is on par with every site you visit in Egypt. You can’t escape it. And the restaurants drinks are outrageously priced to the point where it’s criminal but otherwise it was an incredible visit. And Nice Tours gave us all a little gift of a scarab bracelet which I thought was a lovely gift!
