Departure Point

Traveler pickup is offered

The shuttle will pick you up at your hotel lobby on the night of the booking. You will be contacted on the day of the booking with exact pickup times as this allows us to make sure weather is not going to be an issue. Pickup times take place between 8-8:30pm and return to Fairbanks around 5am. Depending on the Aurora data we may depart sooner than 8 so that we can get out under the skies in time. You'll be contacted with any time changes prior to.

For those staying outside the city limits and not in a hotel listed, the meeting point for pickup is at the Walmart parking lot in row 10. ( 537 Johansen Expy, Fairbanks, Ak 99701 ).

Michael was very friendly and interactive , it was a better tour for kids given that we aren't waiting in the car whole night for majestic lights to pop up , the lodge was super comfy and had large windows to keep an eye on the sky . Property is situated to vast land which was full of snow and Michael helped us with camera settings and had a wallow talkie to guide us when the lights were out . That day was clear sky and show wasn't that great but this is what nature is all about - unknown and that is why Aurora is majestic!! On the way back to Fairbanks as well Michael kept looking outside and took us to few stops to chase those lights at the end it was worth the trip and hospitality was great !! Will come back again

Michael, the owner and host, was an exceptional guide, and gracious host. You will observe the northern skies from the comfort of his personal home with the perfect vantage point for observing the Aurora. He is extremely knowledgeable about the northern lights and an expert photographer who can assist everyone to get the most out of their camera for that memorable picture. You have the freedom to be outside for the best possible viewing, and to come inside as necessary to warm up, have some refreshments, and use facilities. If you want the best possible chance of seeing the northern lights in comfort with an expert guide, this was our experience and we can highly recommend this tour.

This trip took us 1.5 hours from Fairbanks so far away from light pollution. I had been to other places and seen the Aurora but this was unique for 2 reasons: there was a house to warm up in and watch for the Aurora through huge windows and, if you wanted to be outdoors, there was an enormous field (frozen, packed snow) that we could see nearly the entire horizon. Mike had the house warm when we arrived, coffee/tea/hot chocolate and snacks anytime one wanted it, a bathroom and after an introduction to his home and grounds and all were ready for viewing, Mike turned on red lights inside the house so folks could move about it while others were watching the Aurora inside. The Aurora was so strong the night we were there that much was happening all over the sky! Spontaneously, several of us guests just laid down on our backs to see the entire show because you couldn't take it all in otherwise! The perfect location!!! It was a long journey out there and back but being able to get warm, seeing some of the aurora from the house, and having the wide open sky if you really wanted the "best seat in the house" was worth it!
