    Total net time on the lake is about 4 hours and can be adjusted up or down depending on other stops & activities. Lake Lucerne. Enjoy crystal clear waters and the most beautiful alpine views, particularly of Mount Rigi and Pilatus. Formed 12,000 years ago at the end of the last ice age, this lake spans 114 square km and reaches a maximum depth of 214 meters. It is very irregular in shape offering numerous prominent bays. In most places the shoreline rises steeply into mountains up to 1500m high. The lake was used for commercial transportation at the start of the 19th century before mass tourism took place, led by the British and the Americans 50 years later.

    Bürgenstock. This mountain (alt. 1100 m) is almost entirely surrounded by Lake Lucerne. Today, it holds at luxury resort at the very top that is reachable also by the tallest outdoor elevator in Europe. In recent politics the Bürgenstock hosted the peace treaty for Sudan in 2002 and in 2004 EU accession negotiations were held with Turkey.

Today it is the second most popular holidaying location in the area after Lucerne.

We did the Brienz tour from Lucerne, the organization was just perfect. The different stops allowed us to enjoy the beautiful landscapes and swim in the lake lake. Thanks to Erik for his availability and kindness.
