Meet gentle, shy orangutans in their natural habitat at a unique wildlife sanctuary on this delightful full-day tour. The Orangutan Rehabilitation Center in Sandakan is located in the middle of the lush Sepilok Forest Reserve. The Center specializes in caring for baby orphan orangutans and teaching them the survival skills they would have learned from their mothers under normal conditions. The orangutans are not kept in captivity but rather come and go as they please while becoming used to living in the wild again after being held in captivity by various people. You will have the chance to see these incredible creatures and to watch the fun of feeding time. We support animal care centers, your booking helps us in contributing USD10 to the center's affords.   • Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, Sandakan, Sabah, Malaysia
    Bear cub, which is used to living with people, will lose its ability to survive in the wild. Some even forget that they are bear. When they are free, they will look for people and cause a commotion in village nearby. This is a sad but typical story of a sun bear, whose mother was probably killed by poachers and it was kept as a pet.

Great really enjoyed our day, saw orangutans and the sun bears! An experience of a lifetime! We had time to view the orangutans in the jungle and in the nursery.

Fantastische natuurreservaat die het beste voor hebben met de opgevangen Orang-oetan's en Sun Bears. Probeer de drukte te mijden en ga vooral tijdig naar de voederplaatsen van de oerang-oetangs. Na afloop niet weglopen maar rustig blijven zitten. Hebben wij ook gedaan. Op een gegeven moment waren alle bezoekers weg en alleen nog 1 lokale gids aanwezig. Vervolgens kwamen de Orang-Oetan's steeds dichter bij naar ons. Tot op 1 meter afstand. De gids/parkwachter vond het ook fantastisch en bleef dicht bij ons. Later kwam ook het alfa mannetje dichter bij. Om veiligheidsredenen en op advies van de parkwachter hebben we toen afstand genomen. Neem geen eten mee naar binnen. Alleen een flinke fles water. Probeer verder heel stil te zijn en weinig te praten. Des te meer zul je zien!
