It is by far the oldest of the ancient Wonders and the only one still in existence.

    The Great Sphinx of Giza, commonly referred to as the Sphinx of Giza or just the Sphinx, is a limestone statue of a reclining sphinx, a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a human. Facing directly from West to East, it stands on the Giza Plateau on the west bank of the Nile in Giza, Egypt. The face of the Sphinx is generally believed to represent the pharaoh Khafre. Cut from the bedrock, the original shape of the Sphinx has been restored with layers of blocks. This trip was #1 on my bucket list. It met every single expectation and the reason was mostly due to my guide Ahmed Essam. The tour was in chronological order, which for me was the easiest way to understand how time passed at the time the pyramids were being built. He knew even minute details of the process/evolution of Egypt. He answered all of my questions, and because I took a second tour with him the next day, he invited me to bring all of the questions to the next day. He had recommendations for readings to help all I learned stick. I was a glorious experience.

We had the most wonderful day. Marwa, our guide, was the nicest person. Her knowledge was second to none. She really made it the most enjoyable tour we have ever had. It was fun and relaxed and her advice was very much appreciated. Our driver was also awesome and added to the great day. Definitely recommend.
