    We start the tour in “Câmara de Lobos”, it is a fishing village, which is located on the west side of Funchal. The boats are housed in the small bay, creating a unique landscape on the island. The name was given by João Gonçalves Zarco, resulting from the abundance of monk seals that were in the bay. Locally, this place is well known for the traditional Poncha, a drink made with citrus, honey and rum from the region.

  • Cabo Girao, Camara De Lobos, Portugal
    The tour continues to the second highest cliff in the world and the highest in Europe (580m) – (1775ft). One of the most tourist spots on the island. Aggie is great! He has a lot of passion for this island and carried it through the entire tour. We booked last minute due to the constantly changing itenerary of our ship. However, Aggie picked up on the booking immediately and even sent photos of our cruise ship coming into the harbor. Unlike other tour guides who just dropped us off to wander on our own, Aggie came along with us to describe what we were seeing. We also have this hobby called geocaching which we explained to him and he jumped right in with us on the searches. He was really good at it, too. He was constantly aware of our needs and likes and was right on with the great viewpoints and visit to Nun’s Valley. If I ever go back to Madeira I will definitely book with Aggie to see more of that fantastic island.
