Lalli is a Reykjavík native who knows a lot about Icelandic history and politics. The food choices were well curated to give the arc of that history while sampling authentic, well made food and beers. Walks between food sites were past historic sites, sculptures chosen to discuss the millennia of very hard living in Iceland and the success in building its economy and culture since independence. He kept us engaged and laughing. I highly recommend Funky Iceland for any of their tours

Such a great evening! Our guide Lalli was fabulous , full of information, stories, tips, and just plain fun. We loved learning about the foods and beer of Iceland, and learned a lot of history along the way. And just a great tour of downtown Reykjavík. The fermented shark was a once in a lifetime taste (literally, I hope!). Everything else was delicious and the beer was great. A wonderful way to spend an evening, highly recommend!!

Excellent walking tour with lots of wonderful food and overview of Reykjavik history. Lalli provided great information about the history of Iceland and how it impacted food. Because of a very short growing season, most of the Icelandic diet was based on fish and meat. Iceland was so poor that Candy was outlawed because people needed to conserve their resources on essentials. This is just a hint of the fascinating things you will learn on this tour. We visited 2 restaurants, a hot dog stand, and a brewery. All were excellent. I don't usually like hot dogs, but these were exceptional because of the toppings. Given the very high price of food in Iceland, this tour is a great deal.
