Private Group Tour from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Castle

We had a great tour with our two daughters ages 12 and 15. Our driver was in communication with us by text the day before to arrange the pickup. He was prompt, extremely friendly and gave us lots of information on our drive. We went to Neuschwanstein Castle first for a group tour (usually they do 60 people at a time but during covid it's 10 people). All the tickets were arranged ahead of time by our tour guide. There is an option to walk up the hill to the castle, but we opted for the horse-drawn carriage which was a 7euro/person on the way up and 3.50/person on the way down. The castle was very impressive, and we arrived with time to look around beforehand and have a great lunch right across the street afterwards. Then we drove to Linderhof Castle, which was also delightful. We drove past Plansee (beautiful!) and through the small town of Oberaummgau then it was back home to our hotel in Garmisch. We were very happy with the whole trip and would highly recommend it to anybody!

What an experience! Absolutely picturesque like a fairy tale castle indeed - Pity more rooms haven’t been finished and the tour was WAYYYYYYYY to fast after waiting hours to finally get our allotted time. The whole trip was beautiful got it on a nice sunny warm day but could still see snow. We started of at Linderhof Palace, you had a time stamp on your ticket when you could enter if you missed your slot they will not let you in they are very punctual. You get a 30min tour of the palace through beautiful rooms (you can not take pictures). The gold room and the bedroom are dazzling gold and blue and the detail in the rooms is very impressive truly beautiful. You can buy post cards with pictures on ect.. at the shops. Next we stop off in a small town where we enjoyed some good ice cream and souvenir shops and taking in the views of the Alps. Are final stop was Neuschwanstein castle. At the bottom of the hill was a large beautiful lake which has great views and cute ducks around and nice place to have lunch. There is a bus stop with a bus that takes you up the hill that comes every 20 minutes cost €3pp for a single but you can get return, as well as a horse and carriage which holds 6 people I think €8pp. The walk up takes about 25-30mins depending how fast and fit you are the walk down about 25minuets .You have a ticket time to get in to the castle, when you in the castle you can not take photos and you are given a speaker so you can here the guide talk. The tour takes about 39 minutes or so going through large beautiful detailed rooms learning about the history of the castle. The view from the balcony after the tour where you can take photos is amazing the views are unbelievable. There is a shop in the castle and a cafe at the end of the tour as well as place to eat, drink and shop in the village down the hill. All the scenery and houses are lovely decorated and the area clean. I would recommend to see this tour.
