This was a fun expedition, and we enjoyed it. Our skipper was a sweet young guy and did his best to show us a good time despite some unexpectedly gray weather (and a few drips). His historical knowledge wasn’t extensive, but our Italian is basically zero so all in all we got along just fine. The weather didn’t allow for swimming so we walked around Portofino for a bit instead. We did not go the full two hours, which wasn’t really explained.
It’s important to note that the boat in the picture is not even remotely the one we were given. If you scroll through you can see some images of an inflatable background and this is what we got; the small speedboat version of a Zodiac. The seating area pictured was also nowhere to be found.
There is small print that says other boat types might be used, and this trip is significantly cheaper than other similar tours. Should have known. So, if you’re up for some adventure (literally holding on to side straps while bumping over waves), go for it. If you had something more romantic in mind, this isn’t it.
Also, the drinks didn’t include water and the focaccia was literally given to us in a grocery bag. It was soggy by the time we ate it and not particularly good.
