    Reaching Elmina Castle, we will have a tour where we visit the slave dungeons both the male and the female dungeons. We will also visit the forecourt and the door of no return. Elmina castle is the oldest and largest European building in existence below the sub saharan.

On our immersive walking tour, we will visit the Chapel Square which is the center of the town, we will also visit the Nana Kobina Gyan square, the 17th century Dutch cemetery, the fish market village, the first catholic church in West Africa and the Posuban Shrine. We will also have the chance to see a few homes and see some very ancient and historical buildings with great architecture .

My guide, Nana, was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the slave fort and Elmina. He grew up in Elmina and has an intimate understanding of the area and especially the people. Everywhere we went, locals greeted him with smiles and respect. The tour included a tour of the Elmina Castle, a walk through the the key areas of the town, and a casual lunch at a local restaurant. You have the flexibility to lengthen or shorten any part of the experience. I highly recommend this tour!

On a whim I booked a tour with Nana to see Elmina Castle, and he completely exceeded my expectations and made the visit the highlight of my trip to Ghana! I wish I could leave a 10 star rating, 5 stars don’t seem high enough! As a Jamaican Canadian, visiting Elmina castle had been on my bucket list for years, the trip was extremely meaningful to me, and I don’t believe I could have chosen a better tour guide to do the trip with. Nana picked me up from my hotel and we had great conversations the entire journey from Accra to Elmina Castle. He is a great guy, and made the long road trip feel short. I happened to be travelling to Elmina castle alone as a woman, and I felt very comfortable with Nana. Once at Elmina Castle we connected with guides for a tour of the castle. I considered myself to be very educated on the transatlantic slave trade but still learned so many new things that I had no idea about while at the castle. Visiting Elmina castle is an absolute must in someone’s lifetime. Nana took lots of great photos and videos for me as well, for me to remember the experience by. After the tour we stopped at a restaurant before doing a walking tour of Elmina and heading back to Accra. The food was incredible and I learned a lot during the walking tour as well! If you are looking for the best tour guide in Accra, you have found your guy! I highly recommend this experience to all.
