There are just no words to describe the incredible experience we just had with Valeria and Camina Tours. From the planning to the actual experience, not only was Valeria patient and flexible with each and every one of our needs, but she also surprised us throughout the trip with special personalized touches that she knew we would enjoy. This is a hands-on company whose only goal is to make sure that they make you feel like family, meet your every need, and make sure you are beyond satisfied. In addition to Valeria being a gem, she surrounds herself with incredible, knowledgeable staff who share her passion for culture and an incredible experience for all. Notably, we fell in love with our driver Victor, who felt like a family member by the end of our trip. We truly had an experience of a lifetime, and it was because of the impeccable planning and connections that Valeria has that made it so. My strongest advice- know what you want to experience and then trust yourself completely in Valeria's hands. One other thing- there was a lot of concern regarding safety from our family members prior to our trip based on American news. We felt completely safe- of course, you are in a city and need to have your wits about you, like any other city I have ever been to. I did not feel unsafe for one second.
We went for my husband's 50th birthday with two other couples. Be prepared to walk and drink your face off! We started with the Mexican pub tour- we were taken to three authentic Mexican pubs that have rich history with Valeria's family, which made it so special to share in that experience. The locals could not have been more welcoming or kind to us. On our next day, we were driven to Tequila and stayed at Casa Salles Hotel. My only regret was not staying there another day- what an incredible resort. Beautiful, excellent service, and relaxing. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the pool- I would highly recommend this. We went to four distilleries during our stay in Tequila: El Tequileno, Fortaleza, Atanasio, and Cascahuin. Each distillery had its own special charm and the experiences we had at each were unparalleled. El Tequileno's tasting room was exquisite. Fortaleza is stunning with breathtaking views and a tasting experience in a cave! Atanasio was not to be believed- we made our own breakfast among the agave fields, was able to try our hand at planting agave, and had a tasting right there in the fields. Valeria was able to give my husband the opportunity of meeting the Master Distiller, who signed bottles for us before we left and was extremely gracious and as happy to meet us as we were to meet him. We then met Chava, owner of Cascahuin, again, thanks to Valeria, who was just as gracious with his bottle signing and picture taking. At Cascahuin, we were able to see the unloading of agave, which was an incredible experience. We were truly sad to leave Tequila.
We then made our way back to Guadalajara, where we had the incredibly fun experience of a Wrestling show. From the masks to the colorful new phrases we learned, this was an experience not to be missed. We then spend the day touring downtown Guadalajara and spent the night at Tlaquepaque. We ate at Cafe Luna- one of the most incredible restaurants I have ever experienced. The ambience, the food, and the amazing service was a definite highlight. Our final day was a free day, but Valeria made sure to make it memorable. We visited a neighborhood within Guadalajara and ate an unforgettable Chef's Tasting 10-course meal at Alcade. Imprinted on my memory forever. We then made our way to Matilde Di Amor for a mixology class and another incredible meal.
We cannot wait to come back. And there is absolutely no doubt that when we do, Valeria and Camina Tours will be part of our journey. Although, we are thinking that Victor might have to take his vacation that way so he can come with us, instead of driving us. Booking a trip with this company will ensure your experience is everything you ever dreamed of and more.
