  • The Living Land Farm, Luang Prabang, Laos
    This charming community farm just outside of Luang Prabang overlooks wonderful Rice Fields and Mountains. Rice is planted all year round and they welcome guests who want to learn about Rice planting and other farm activities like bamboo weaving, sugar cane pressing, black smithing. The half day programme starts at 08.30 and finishes with a tasting of rice based snacks. After farming experience, we have lunch in the farm (a selection of typical Luang Prabang dishes and fruit.) Proceeds from the Rice Experience go to supporting over 60 students with their studies and they operate free English classes for the whole village.

We really enjoyed our half day on the rice farm! Keo led us through the farming steps with good explanations and funny jokes. You could try every step and really feel the hard work of rice farming. ???????? I would absolutely do it again if I stay in Laos, and the Lunch was awesome!❤️ Greetings from switzerland????????

A very great and above all informative excursion. We now see the rice with completely different eyes. Although we also know that the rice that we sell is industrially processed. It is a very entertaining workshop that appeals to everyone. Finally, there are also various rice products to taste. Really highly recommended – thanks Johnny for your explanations and demonstrations.

It was a great experience to see how Laotian rice farmers work. The fact that you could try virtually every step of rice cultivation from sowing to harvesting for yourself gave a completely different view. Our guide Keo knew great English and had a great singing voice. He has all the information about rice cultivation understandable and funny. It is advisable to put on shorts, because if you want to participate actively, you are sometimes deep in the mud. A garment with pockets would also be good, since you need to sow and harvest your hands for rice and therefore your smartphone cannot hold the whole time in your hand.
