    You will first explore Aliados Avenue, a beautiful avenue, originally named Allied Nations Avenue, which was opened in 1916 after a renovation plan for the city center connecting the Trinity and Liberty squares. You can see among others the statue of Almeida Garrett, writer, poet, speaker, politician who was one of the greatest figures of Portuguese romanticism.

  • Igreja de Santo Antonio dos Congregados, Porto, Portugal
    You will go past Santo Antonio dos Congregados Church, which was inaugurated on 8th December 1680 and is dedicated to Saint Anthony whose interior murals represent scenes from his life. Its baroque façade of the 17th century is covered with beautiful Portuguese "azulejos", or tiles.

    You will cross the Douro river through the Infante Bridge, in order to reach Vila Nova de Gaia and its magnificent Serra do Pilar Monastery. From Infante Bridge you will be able to enjoy a unique perspective of Porto’s most famous bridge: Dom Luís I, as well as its smaller twin: D. Maria Pia bridge. Both of which were designed and built in collaboration between Théophile Seyrig and Gustave Eiffel.

The internal staircase (225 steps) allows access to the top (76 meters) from where you can admire one of the most beautiful views of Porto. Masterpiece Nicolau Nasoni, Italian painter decorator, fell in love with northern Portugal.

    Crossing the bridge to Ribeira de Vila Nova de Gaia. You will then be on the left bank of the River Douro, a river which rises in Spain in the province of Soria, 2080 meters above the sea level, runs through Portugal and empties into the Atlantic. The city has experienced great prosperity in the 18th century and so far hosts the biggest Porto wine cellars whose activity dates back to 1692.

This project was conducted by the engineer Edgar Cardoso and inaugurated on 22 June 1963.

If you're visiting Porto and want a truly memorable experience and a way to explore the city, with a tuk tuk tour is an absolute must. From the moment we hopped aboard, our driver Helena’s warmth, knowledge, and passion for her hometown made the experience feel like a ride with an old friend who just happens to know every hidden corner of the city. Even though she’s from Gaia, she’s very proud of her Porto heritage. We cruised through Porto’s historic heart past the majestic Porto Cathedral, the iconic Clérigos Tower, and the bustling Ribeira district, soaking in panoramic views of the Douro River with scenic viewpoints and so many more. But the real magic happened when we crossed into the charming fishing village of Afurada. With its colorful houses, clotheslines fluttering in the breeze, and the scent of grilled fish wafting through the air, it felt like stepping into a postcard. Helena took us to a very private communal wash house which was amazing and to see people washing their clothes like they did many, many years ago. Helena didn’t just show us the sights she brought them to life with stories, local legends, and personal touches. She even pointed us to some fantastic eateries we had a mouthwatering francesinha ( restaurant @ Mecure Hotel) following our initial experience and the central market with an array of fresh produce and wine and port. This tour is perfect if you want to see Porto’s highlights and hidden gems without the hassle of big buses or exhausting walks. If you’re in Porto ask for Helena and hopefully you can experience the wonderful time we had in Porto with her. THANK YOU Helena!
