Yin Yang Sea, Ruifang, Taiwan Watch the bay where the sea is a mix of yellow and blue before heading to Jiufen. 10 minutes
Jinguashi 13 Ruins, Ruifang, Taiwan The Remains of the 13 Levels is a former smelter plant in Lianxin Village, Ruifang District, New Taipei, Taiwan. It is also called the Potala Palace of Mountain Mines. 10 minutes
Golden Waterfall, Ruifang, Taiwan Golden Waterfall is located in Jinguashi. Although real gold flowing from these falls would be too good to be true, the water is certainly a beautiful gold color as a result of the combination of regular rainfall in this mining area and the abundance of heavy metal elements deposited in the riverbed. 10 minutes
Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street), Ruifang, Taiwan With an unmatched old town atmosphere and seaside flair, Jiufen is a must see spot when visiting northern Taiwan. Always teeming with tourists, you might notice that Japanese people make up a huge proportion of the crowds gathered. Many are keen to catch a glimpse of the setting of Hayao Miyazaki's Academy Award winning “Spirited Away”, especially the iconic red lanterns. This is also a film mecca for lovers of Taiwanese film, especially fans of Hou Hsiao-hsien's “A City of Sadness”, which utilized Jiufen as the backdrop to the events of the 228 Incident. Given Hou’s recent award of Best Director in the 2015 International Cannes Film Festival for his new film “The Assassin”, we expect even more people will make their way here in years to come. 90 minutes
Shifen Waterfall, Pingxi, Taiwan Shifen Waterfall is the most renowned cascading waterfall in Taiwan. The watercourse is from Keelung River, height 20 m. (66 ft.) and width 40 m. (131 ft.). 40 minutes
Shifen Old Street, Pingxi, Taiwan Shifen Old Street is a bustling hub for those eager to get a glimpse of an old railroad town which still retains the charm of yesteryear. Originally built to transport coal, the Shifen Old Street stop has now become one of the most popular on the Pingxi rail-line. It is easy to see why so many are drawn here - local food, souvenir shops and puffing trains add to the charm of this little gem, as well as make it a fantastic place for photography. 40 minutes

I’ve had the absolute pleasure of touring with Henry twice—first in June 2023 and again in April 2025—and I cannot recommend him highly enough. Henry is, quite simply, the best.
From the start, Henry impressed us with his deep knowledge of every destination. He shares fascinating history and local insights without needing to be asked, and he does it in a way that’s engaging and never overwhelming. He’s accommodating and never makes you feel rushed, always letting you enjoy each location at your own pace. He’s also incredibly thoughtful—offering to take family photos without prompting—and genuinely funny, delivering jokes in fluent English that had us all laughing.
I first met Henry during a half-day tour to Jiufen, Shifen, and Yehliu Geopark in 2023. He was so kind and professional that I knew I had to book with him again. In 2025, we returned for four more tours with Henry, visiting Sun Moon Lake, Hehuan Mountain, Jiufen, Shifen, Yehliu, Yilan, the Kavalan Distillery, and Ah Mei’s Animal Farm.
Henry made such an impression on my children that they affectionately started calling him “Uncle Henry.” He truly makes you feel like family. He’s always punctual, often arriving early, and drives with such skill and care that none of us ever felt carsick—a rare feat on winding roads. With a professional driver’s license in Taiwan, he navigates even the narrow streets of Jiufen with ease.
At each stop, Henry recommends the best local eateries and food stalls. Thanks to him, we had some unforgettable meals and snacks in Taichung and Taipei. He’s also incredibly attentive to weather conditions, adjusting our itinerary to ensure the best experience—like getting us to Shifen to launch lanterns just before the rain began.
Henry has a gift for reading his guests and customizing the tour to suit their needs and preferences. Our family of five had the most memorable time in Taiwan because of him. More than just a guide, Henry has become a true friend—and we will always be grateful for the experiences he gave us.
