Mount Vesuvius is one of the most attractive volcanos in the world. It is internationally renowned for the 79 A.D. eruption, which destroyed the Roman cities of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplontis and Stabiae. From a distance, the Vesuvius seems to be harmless but when the brave tourist approaches near its crater, he feels the power of the “big Giant”. Departing from Pompeii, you will reach an altitude of 1000 meters, and from the parking area you will reach the crater following a trekking path that usually takes 30 minutes. Once there, enjoy the breathtaking view of the Bay of Naples. The dropoff will be at the Naples Central Station. The maximum group size is 18-25 people. Tour includes round-trip transportation from central Naples hotels or the cruise port.

    Painted over the centuries by various artists, Mt. Vesuvius id the natural landmark of the Bay of Naples. Tragically known as the destroyer of the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, this volcano is a “must-see” sightseeing place for each tourist.
  • Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller
  • Infants are required to sit on an adult’s lap
  • Specialized infant seats are available
  • Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
  • Cruise ship passengers must provide the following information at time of booking: ship name, docking time, disembarkation time and re-boarding time
  • Your tour operator will collect the Mt. Vesuvius entrance fee on board the bus in order to secure your skip the line tickets from the ticket office "guide's counter"
  • Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately
  • A minimum of 4 people per booking is required
  • Subject to favorable weather conditions. If canceled due to poor weather, you will be given the option of an alternative date or alternative tour
You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.
  • For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

A fantastic day! Our guide Gabriel, driver Gennaro and our guide inside the ruins; Biagio were the best! Gabriel was knowledgeable, funny and flawlessly guided our tour. Our driver Gennaro made driving up the Mt Vesuvius road seem effortless! Biagio’s guided tour around Pompeii was spectacular! His knowledge mixed with his humor brought the city back to life!!

The trip description is a bit misleading. This tour picked us up in Pompeii (as stated in the trip description) but tried to drop us off in Naples. Apparently this half day tour joins a full day tour which originates in Naples. My wife and I got lucky that some other people on the tour delayed our departure from Mt. Vesuvius's summit so our tour guide was willing to accommodate us by dropping us back off in Pompeii! This was a lifesaver since we had our luggage stored at the Pompeii train station! The trip did include lunch and a small wine tasting. Overall good experience.
