    The next highlight is Wolfgang Lake and the villages St. Gilgen and St. Wolfgang. Capture a picture of St. Wolfgang from a great view point before arriving at the next town, in Bad Ischl. The drive will take you through Bad Ischl, which is famous for the “Kaiser” (Emperor) Villa and the Café Zauner, and on to Bad Goisern and Hallstatt.

Hallstatt itself is beautiful, we were her before it we took the bus and train ourselves this time for a different experience. Then we took the ferry over to Hallstatt. As it was off peak season the ice cave wasn’t open so we decided to visit the salt mine instead. This mine is over 7000 years old. However it was 43 euros and this included the funicular up and down. The mine itself to be honest was just ok, the highlight was sliding down the miners slides. Krakow salt mine was by far the best salt mine I’ve been to. The viewpoint above Hallstatt was fab. There were a few shops open for souvenirs and cafes for coffee.

The most beautiful village we've ever visited in 50 years of travel A photographer's dream, no target is boring. Visit the salt mine and view an underground wooden stairway constructed 7000 years ago. Every waterfall and stream, woven through the neighborhood, piques an interest. Problem is the day-trippers smoke constantly and the stench of barbequed tobacco wafts throughout the streets. Inconsideration from all the potential lung cancer recipients, but what do they care?
