Because of friends we took the Marriott all inclusive at Souse. Love the history and architecture, not the dirty beaches. Hotel is very dated, most guests are from eastern Europe, they are ok with this budget. Pools on the premises, access to private beach at the sea. Food a bit disappointing, no description by local specialties, minimal seafood, though fresh fruit and desserts were amazing. Free bottles of water offered all the time by very friendly staff. TUI came with 1/2 day "welcome tour", 35 GBP or 38 EUR, very much worth it, from Souse to Herghla (nice berber village, less commercial then Sidi'bou Said) and back to Medina of Souse, with a fantastic guide Mohamed, who explained all the time in fluent french, english and german what we could see left and right. If I ever go back to Tunisia, I would take the whole TUI package. We booked also a full day trip with Amara tours, wasted 65 EUR p/p for the worst experience with an ignorant guide (Nejib) who committed every "crime" a guide can do (almost no explaining or wrong information, filthiest toilets with no soap, paper, but up to ankles with filth, some cheap canteen place with almost no food and no water), a total rip-off I have never experienced in my long life travelling around the globe.
