This tour would have been glorious in the summer. I would advise against going in the winter, however. It was very cold for hiking and the rain and fog meant we had no views on the first day. The tour can’t control the weather, but for an English language tour we would have expected the driver to speak a bit more English. Our driver was very impatient and couldn’t explain to us how long or why we were stopping along the way. We were confused the whole time during the journey. Then there was a last minute switch of our hotel from the Sapa Vista to the Cat Cat View hotel which wasn’t communicated to us. After a long day of shivering in the rain, all our group wanted were warm showers and the Cat Cat View hotel had no hot water when we arrived. When the hotel finally turned the water boiler on, the hot water lasted for ten minutes. My friend’s room had no water period in the morning and again cold showers in my room the following day. Then on the journey back there was a last minute transfer of vans midway on the side of the highway. However, the vans were not even located on the same level during the transfer. We had to climb up a steep embankment with our luggage in tow to get to the other van which was stopped on the highway above. Overall, this seemed disorganized since the tour should have grouped the people according to final destinations rather than doing this mid-journey car switch.
