    This excursion was part of a three-week Gate1 tour of SE Asia. Halong Bay is about a one-hour bus ride from Hanoi and there is much to see on the way out & back. The accommodations were very nice and we really like the size of the boat (a small number of passengers). The food was very good and the staff was excellent. There is a small bar available. Besides visiting the ancient caves and fishing village, I was fishing for squid late at night off the stern. The staff would immediately pull the squid off the line before it let go and it went right into a bucket. I love fishing so this was great...but not so great for the squid. The view of the islands was fantastic and well worth the overnight cruise.
