Departing at 4am might sound extreme, but trust us, you'll see a side of Hanoi, without the tourist crowds, that can't be experienced at any other time. Remember to pack your camera because there are few places as photogenic as a Hanoi market in the wee hours.

Really awesome tour of the markets with the best food I tasted all trip. Couldn’t fit another bite by the end but kept eating anyways because it was so good. Chef Duyen was an incredible guide and it was a pleasure learning about the culinary culture, city history, and her personal story! Was hesitant about the 4am wake up call but once you get started you completely forget how early it is with the energy at the markets. Really happy I did it!

My friends and I did the private tour that starts at 4 am. It was amazing to see the market so early in the day and get a better understanding of the lives of some Vietnamese workers. The market is chaotic and striking. A place you truly will never forget. I highly recommend long pants and shoes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty.
Chef Duyen was an amazing tour guide and has an incredible story. She answered all of our questions and did a great job explaining everything. She also was very accommodating for my friend who was a vegetarian. We did try the classic Vietnamese dishes Bun cha, pho, and banh mi but they were way better than the versions I tried preciously. Chef Duyen also gave me other things to try that I was just interested in when I spotted them on the street. After the tour, she then provided other recommendations for places to try. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn more about Hanoi and try some delicious food outside of Old Quarters. Come hungry and the market will wake you right up!

This is the third Chef's Tour I've done and I continue to be hooked! I was met at 4 am at my hotel and taken to explore Cho Long Bien market. The guide, Chef Duyen, was outstanding - telling all about what I was seeing at the moment, what had already happened even earlier in the day, and how the market would evolve over the day. I was able to taste so many things and have conversations with the vendors because of her - making for one of the most memorable experiences of my trip to Hanoi. Yes, this tour starts at 4 am, but it is so worth it to get to see a side of Hanoi that most visitors miss. The many samples of other foods, such a sticky rice, bun cha, cuttlefish cake, pho, egg coffee, and so much more gave me a great introduction to Vietnamese food that I look forward to trying more versions of these dishes. Thanks, Chef Duyen, for a wonderful experience!
